Description of Volcanic Surface Vase with Yellow Leaf Decoration 21-331
This vase’s incredibly lively surface is a result of double firing in salt. Unhappy with the quality of the surface after the first salt firing, I fired it again, adding an overglaze and got this interesting if rough and weathered looking surface. Not one to quarrel with the kiln gods, I proclaim this surface “volcanic”! A conversation starter for sure, and with great appeal to the lover of rustic or weathered surfaces! Salt fired (twice) to Cone Ten )2345 degrees F).
