Deborah's Art Blog
Home From NCECA 2010As usual, NCECA was at once inspiring and overwhelming. 6,000 clay artists descended upon Philadelphia for the event. There is so much wonderful ceramic art work to see it is impossible to do it all!
I experienced great demonstrations by some of my heros (Ron Meyers, Ellen Shankin, Christa Assad, Andy Brayman, Matt Metz, Judy Fox, Kari Radasch, Richard Shaw). There were interesting lectures to attend (Teri Gross of NPR was the keynote speaker), shows to see and people to meet.
I was able to meet Bruce Dehnert, a clay hero from my hometown (Lander, WY), and was delighted by his sculptures. He is head of the Ceramics Dept. at Peters Valley Craft Center near Philadelphia. I've linked up the Peter's Valley website at left so you can take a look at some of his work.
I spent time with fellow Wyoming artist, Connie Norman. Check out her website. You will find a link on the left of this page. Very cool stuff!
I was also able to re-connect with some old friends and managed to make a few new ones.
Needless to say, since my return I have spent a lot of time in the studio. Stay in touch and see what new and interesting things evolve from all these wonderful experiences!
